400 mm LOB. Beautiful Very Fine grain Spruce Soundboard (60 grains to the inch) and highly flamed Maple back and sides. This instrument has Fluted F Holes. The center line of the scroll goes all the way into the throat. Weight: 612.8 grams = 21.35 ozs. = 1 lb. 5. ozs.

Vincenzo was born in 1879, began making instruments in 1893 and was 49 years old when he fabricated this viola, he had 35 years of experience and expertise when this was made. Of the 940 instruments he made, 800 are violins, 60 are violas and 80 are cellos.

At the bottom of the label is the Handwritten Address: via dei mille 1459 (in Rome.)

This is a consignment.

There are 2 old repaired cracks near the treble bottom edge.

This has a deep rich resonance, that was developed after it was bought from the Rudolph Wurlitzer violin shop in New York. This comes with the Wurlitzer paperwork, and a 2001 Scott Cao Violin Shop Appraisal and authenticity verification.

The soundboard is made of two pieces of fir (Spruce) of fine pores and is irregular. The
back is of one piece of Maple with fairly distinct, irregular,
almost straight grain lines. The sides are of Maple with a fairly distinct and irregular grain pattern.
The head is of Maple with a fairly distinct and irregular grain pattern.
The varnish is red orange on a gilded ground.
The length of the back is 400 millimeters.
This is a beautiful example of the caracteristique work of the maker.
